Germany is the biggest economy in Europe and also the most populous country in the European Union with around 82 million inhabitants. The country is also one of the most important political powers in the continent and member of the EU, NATO, G8 and OECD. The country was divided in two for a long while during the cold war but again reunited in 1990 when the Berlin wall fell. Berlin is the capital city and also the largest city in Germany with aound 3,5 million people living in the city and 4,5 million people in the metropolitan area.

Internship accepting companies are everywhere in Germany. Most interns are placed in the South West of Germany (Baden Wuerttemberg) in the biggest global player area 

  • Internships can be paid and unpaid, after a duration of 3 months unpaid internships are paid 
  • Some companies supports in the intern in accommodation, meals, travel costs, language course or tickets for public transport. Accommodation could be a host family or shared apartment
  • It is possible to attend a language course before the internship starts 
  • Participants have to get insurance in their home country in case of sickness, accident and liability 
  • Participants are responsible for their own travel costs 
  • After enrolment the participant will have a Skype interview with an account manager n Germany; after this the documents are sent to a potential company 

Requirements 

  • Older than 18 years 
  • Study at a university /college or left the university just a short time before applying
  • Must study minimum of 4 semester 
  • Be interested in German culture 
  • Have a valid health insurance for Germany 
  • In most cases have some German language skills (level B1), in some cases English will do

Placement fee:

€ 700 for unpaid internships

€ 900 for paid internships

Application for an Internship in Germany

Necessary for the for the application are the following: 
(all documents must be written in English or in German) 

  • Enrolment form and a CV with a photo in MS-Word 
  • Copy of passport 
  • A nice video would be an advantage (but it is no compulsory) 
  • Certificate of enrollment in your university (following information has to be on that certificate) 
    o First and last name plus the birth date 
    o Details of your studies and the subject of study 
    o The start date of your studies and the expected end date
    o Contact address of your university 
    o Original signature/original seal of the university

  • Host family accommodation/half board 205—255 Euro/week
